H&M Beanie, Vintage Cross Choker, Spider Web Tank c/o Romwe, Sheer Zip Jacket c/o IAnyWear, Lock & Key Belt c/o Romwe, Vintage Burgundy Maxi, H&M Sneakers

Can it be Halloween already? I'm ready for the stores to start selling all the fun, thematic Halloween apparel! I was lucky to find this spiderweb tank top for sale on Romwe recently though :) I love how there are cut outs integrated into the back of the tank top to really make it feel like a spiderweb. I didn't want to go all black so I opted for a darker jewel tone, by pairing this tank with my mom's vintage skirt. I wore black for everything else so I topped off the look with my matching burgundy beanie.

I actually got sick today but of course it's the 3-day Labor Day weekend now... I suppose it's better to not miss school when you're a senior but my energy level has really been diminished. There's something going around at school :( I went home and worked a bit more on an RDJ drawing that I'm doing just for fun (I've been told it's not the best to submit drawings of celebrities in your portfolio). I like drawing celebrities (or just anyone's face whom you stare at more than you probably should) though because it really pushes you to get the facial features in relation to each other just right... It's still in progress but I thought I'd share it with you all :)

PS: On September 5th, it'll have been one year since I started this blog so I'm planning a "how I started blogging/got where I am today" post :)

EQUESTRIAN (+ LE WOLF GIVEAWAY [CLOSED])

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Wide Brim Hat c/o Oasap, Olive Trench Coat c/o IAnyWear, Triple Cross Necklace c/o Le Wolf Jewelry, Underarmour Black Turtleneck, Black Lace Shorts c/o Oasap, Striped Tights c/o Oasap, White Mountain Booties

Today was a particularly cold, icy feeling day when I woke up this morning-- so I immediately grabbed my Underamour turtleneck and a pair of tights, as well as this coat to stay even warmer in the morning at school. But as usual, it got really warm again in the evening so I tried to take my outfit photos as quickly as possible because I was melting out there in the 80 degree weather! Probably not the best way to dress today, but I don't have a good tolerance for freezing cold weather, especially right after I wake up and I'm still groggy :(

I was quite happy with the way this quickly thrown on outfit turned out though! The silver crosses necklace added a nice contrasting accent to all the black, and the brimmed hat paired with the trench coat, gave off an equestrian feel. The coat is actually on the thinner side so it's a great coat for the summer-fall period, when it's getting chillier but isn't freezing yet. Plus, I was able to stuff all of it into my small backpack really easily! (I hate carrying around giant, heavy coats in my hands)

Anyways, I have a new giveaway with Le Wolf Jewelry to share with all of you! :) This giveaway is for one piece of jewelry of your choice from Le Wolf, and is only open to US readers. It will end one week from today, on Tuesday, September 4th. Follow the instructions on the widget below to enter!

Cat Eye Sunglasses c/o Romwe, Khaleesi Top c/o Anastasia Gelfman Silis, Lock & Key Belt c/o Romwe, Black Skater Skirt c/o Romwe, H&M Socks, White Mountain Booties

I feel like one of those undercover agents in this outfit; it reminds me very much of what a modern Irene Adler might wear! The snood in this top made me feel very mysterious because you can bunch it up and make it all voluminous around your neck, and the cat eye sunnies gave the look an alluring touch. The back of the top is also quite lovely; just look at the way it drapes. Thank you so much to the talented fashion designer from India, Anastasia Gelfman Silis, for this incredible Khaleesi top from her line Let Them Stare. Her garments have a striking, avant garde touch to them and her brand name exactly embodies the eye-catching and head-turning effect I want my outfits to have.

Amongst her other pieces, I'm also in love with her beige Boutonniére gown and black Killer dress below. Please check out her other pieces here and help support an emerging designer who definitely deserves lots more recognition! :) If you're interested in buying one of her pieces, you can contact her at anastasiasg@gmail.com

BUTTERFLIES & HURRICANES

H&M Beanie, Denim Vest c/o Romwe, DIY Tie Dye Woven Shirt (Tutorial here), Forever 21 Denim Shorts, H&M Sneakers

I'm so glad I dug this top out of my closet again! It started out as a simple white, long sleeve top, but I tie-dyed it and followed the video tutorial (link above) I found on Youtube, and the end result was incredible. The netting looks complicated but it is very easy to do! Plus it looks like spider webs :3

I wanted to wear something that was a bit grungy but wasn't necessarily built around a dark color palette. I didn't want to overpower the pastel tones in the top so I went with a light wash denim vest and shorts, and the acid wash of the denim pieces also helped to add a more rugged feel. And to add the much needed pop of color (and I always need some type of hat), I chose my mustard beanie and orange cross necklace to compliment.

I had a very nice first week of senior year! It is very manageable now that I don't have APUSH ;) I get out of school before noon every other day so I can take naps which helps keep my level of alertness up. Today, I came home to find that the customized laptop case I made from Snupped finally arrived!!! I'll be dedicating an upcoming outfit post to it but for now, here is a small preview of one side of it (the other side has the Avengers "A" logo). There will be higher-res pictures in the post but I must say that the quality of printing is SO SHARP and vibrant. Very impressed :) For now, if you want to make your own case, you can check the website out here!

And last but not least, I was going to wait to tell you guys but I can't keep it inside because I'm way too excited about it. But I was recently contacted about styling an exclusive Jeffrey Campbell x Wasteland shoe! I LOVE WASTELAND so this is one of the best collaborations that could ever come my way! I'm truly so thankful for all your guys' support and comments!

ENDER'S GAME

North Face Beanie, Moon & Star Pendant from eBay, Vintage Shimmery Dress c/o Shoppalu, Lock & Key Belt c/o Romwe, Forever 21 Cuffs, White Mountain Booties

Today, I'm wearing a vintage dress from Shoppalu! I have an obsession with sparkly fabrics :) You can also see my other sparkly maxi skirt in this post too! I thought the shimmery fabric looked very space age so I went with that theme and wore my moon and star necklace and my sci-fi, gauntlet-like cuffs! My sister is also reading Ender's Game right now in her Honors English class which seemed like the perfect title for this look.

So I still need to update you guys on my second day of school (it's the third day now). Yesterday, I had AP Comp Gov and Fashion 3. I really like my history teacher because he's a very lively person which will make me much more attentive during the morning; plus, HE HAS SO MANY COOL SKULL (models) IN HIS ROOM! He has a human skull model on his desk, and a full skeleton model in the corner of the room. He also has a cabinet full of other various animal skulls and such! The bathroom pass is even an elk skull... :P

In my Fashion class, the Level 2s and up are going to start planning the theme proposals for the annual school fashion show. This is my third year and I'm not too sure what I'll come up with but the first year, I did a Storybook/Fairytale inspired theme, and last year, I did a Tim Burton inspired theme. I'll also be starting on my pieces for the fashion show early this year, and it will definitely have a huge grunge and Halloween influence, but I want to make sure it still has that more romantic and lovely touch. I'll wear anything witchy even if it looks costume-y but I think it's also important to keep in mind that your designs would have to sell with consumers. You guys will get to see the collection at the end of March! ;) You can see last year's collection here, if you are curious as well. Have a nice day everyone! <3

PS: Romwe is also holding another Summer Clearance sale starting this Friday, August 24th to August 31st, with discounts up to 60% off! If you spend $70, you also get another 15% off too! Might be a good time to pick up some cute pieces for fall and winter :)

SWEENEY TODD

Monday, August 20, 2012

Wide Brim Hat c/o Oasap, DIY Collar, DIY Cross Necklace, Black Baroque Shirt c/o Motel Rocks, Lock & Key Belt c/o Romwe, Black Skater Skirt c/o Romwe, White Mountain Booties

Today was my first day of senior year! Do you guys like my hair today? I'm wearing some clip on hair extensions that I ordered from eBay, for only $1! They aren't long enough for my hair completely but it's okay, I don't really mind. They are also synthetic though so they can't last that long but for $1, you can just buy them in bulk. I'm so excited that I finally found something unusual to do with my dark hair because I get so jealous of people who have gorgeous ombre pastel hair. These white highlights are quick and simple to put in, but have a rather striking effect. Really love how white accents in hair gives off that spooky vibe like in Sweeney Todd or sported by Frankenstein's bride.

I got this velvet baroque shirt from Motel Rocks and the detailing is so gorgeous. I'm trying to add more basic white and black blouses to my wardrobe and this one has the perfect whimsical touch, yet it would still be easy to throw on in the mornings. Added the white collar to accent the white highlights, and the cross necklace to pop out the gold charms in the belt.

I had APES, AP Literature, and AP Calculus AB today! I really like all my teachers this year; it's also going to be the third year that I've had the same math teacher but he's the best math teacher ever so I'm happy about it! One time he let the class have an In N Out party! Tomorrow I have AP Comparative Government and Fashion 3. So I'll let you guys know how those classes go. Trying to get ahead on all my homework as much as I can before the senioritis kicks in! Hopefully having only 5 classes this year will help me stay on track easier!

Bracelet from New HOPE (See below for more info)
Wide Brim Hat c/o Oasap, Vintage Cross Choker, Vintage Crayon Deco Maxi c/o Shoppalu, Vintage Black and Gold Bracelets, Yellow Handmade Bracelet c/o New HOPE Bracelets (Who donates all profits to struggling non-profit organizations)

Today was our pre-back to school day where we picked up our schedules, turned in forms, and took school pictures! I'm slightly upset that I actually took a good school photo but it's not even going in the yearbook because we have our senior portraits in there instead. But since it would be the first time I saw everyone since junior year ended, I made sure I had on a good pre-first day outfit! ;) I wore this vintage colorful, zig-zagged maxi dress which is from Shoppalu, and the fit is perfect, it falls nicely on the body, and the colors and print are bold without being too blatantly bold.

I am also wearing a really cool, new piece of jewelry today: this handmade yellow, rhinestone bracelet from New HOPE Bracelets. They are a small company that has just started up and their goal is to help keep other struggling non-profit organizations running (by donating all profits they make), because many of them are not receiving enough donations to sufficiently fund the organization :( The first organization they plan to donate the profits to is World Harvest. The bracelets are very affordable too; the prices are from $7-10. They are custom made so you can pick the length, color of the string, and color of the beads. I think that the bracelets are so lovely and made very well; they are a great price and they go to a good cause. I definitely encourage my readers to buy one for themselves! They'd make perfect presents for your friends too so I might buy some for small Christmas gifts! I picked out the yellow one above but they were so kind to send me another blue one which I gave to my little sister and she's been wearing it ever since :) Also, the package came with a Nemo stamp so you can't really beat that either!!!

FROSTBITE

Friday, August 10, 2012

H&M Mustard Beanie (Similar), Vintage Cross Necklace, UO Lace Tank Top (Similar), Forever 21 Cardigan (Similar 1, 2), Pure Cold Leggings c/o Lovelysally, White Mountain Booties (Similar 1, 2)

This outfit is as frosty as it gets during the summer! I feel kind of cold looking at it haha! I was recently sent these beautiful leggings from Lovelysally and the color is insane and the leggings are made so well. The deep blue gradient makes for really visually pleasing outfits when you compliment it with primary color accents-- in this case, I added the mustard beanie and cross necklace, and a fuchsia lip. Not exactly yellow and red, but I think you get the idea! :)

To compliment the texture of the glaciers on the leggings, I wore them with this lace tank top. A weird combination but it worked out really nicely. And just for that something extra, I wore this white cardigan which my friend gave to me from her closet, and shrugged it off my shoulders. It's much more fun and dynamic to wear a long cardigan this way. Plus it feels a lot like you have a blanket around you. Hope you guys like these photos; I wanted to try taking some pics at sunset but as you can see, the sun went down in some of these photos. I like the way the texture of the gravel road looks too! Have a great weekend guys!

PS: My friend, Rory, has an 11 year old cousin, named Lizzie who just started her own business of splatter painting shorts! :) There's a bunch of options you can choose on how you want to customize your shorts, ranging from $10-15. You can either send her your shorts or give her your size. If you would like to support her business you can send her an email at lizzieslaxin23@gmail.com for more information. Below is a picture of the shorts she did for Rory! They look pretty cute!

HAUNTING

Wide Brim Hat c/o Oasap, Gifted Lennons, Hooded Chiffon Jacket c/o IAnyWear, Glitter Cross T-shirt c/o Siren London, Forever 21 Cuffs, Faux Leather Leggings c/o Oasap, White Mountain Booties

Today I wanted the focus to be on this cool cross-print t-shirt from Siren London! Which by the way, has such affordable pieces for sale! This top would be $14 in USD! I'm also really liking this galaxy top, skull-back dress, and bronze metallic jeans ^^ I like that the crosses aren't just printed on, the glitter effect is very nice for accenting with gold jewelry. Which is what I did with my cut out cuff, and this angel wing bracelet (which I've worn as an arm cuff before too!). I went black for the rest of the look, which actually reminds me a lot of my mom's style, because she really likes to wear all black!

The chiffon jacket is from IAnyWear and it's so nice to have a piece that is handy for the "outerwear look" but is actually very light, since it is chiffon after all! It has a hood and zips up, as well as a drawstring at the hip which gives it more fit. Very into hoods right now, but we'll have to wait till fall in order for me not to die from overheating! :P
