DIY Floral Crown Headband, Gold Scissors Necklace c/o Forward To All, Lace Skulls Kimono c/o Forward To All, Forever 21 Floral Bustier, Purple Ombre Maxi Skirt c/o Sugarlips, Jeffrey Campbell Platforms

This is one of those outfits that just falls together perfectly on its own :) I picked this skirt out from Sugarlips not knowing what to wear it with exactly, but when it arrived, along with my new kimono (did you notice the skulls in the lace?) from Forward To All, the two pieces seemed to harmonize, as cheesy as that sounds! In line with the romantic feel of the look, I paired the skirt with a top that had a sweetheart neckline. This outfit needed some type of headpiece so I made another floral crown with giant white flowers. It couldn't hurt to throw on my new favorite necklace either! For shoes, I wore my Jeffrey Campbell platform sandals that I bought at Urban Outfitters for only $45; I'm quite proud of this particular find.

Hope you enjoyed the 5 looks I put together for my Sugarlips Style Icon week!! If you haven't entered my giveaway for a $100 Sugarlips giftcard, you can do so here. And if you plan on buying something from Sugarlips, you can use this coupon code for 30% off: SUGARINOURBLOOD

Wide Brim Hat c/o Oasap, Rococo Sand Top c/o Sugarlips, H&M Bag, Houndstooth Platform Booties c/o Lulu's

This was a look I photographed after my sister did my Mrs. Lovett inspired hair, so that's why it has a wavy texture to it! If I was more of a morning person, I would curl my hair all the time. This is my fourth look for Sugarlips this week and I chose to go for a more classic and carefree look with a neutral color palette. I'm actually wearing this top backwards, as the lace is intended to be in the back, but I thought it looked cuter in the front! ;) I wanted to show off the details of the lace so I kept the bottom simple with a nude skirt.

The toned down colors of the outfit and the background made these photos feel very peaceful to me. I felt quite calm editing these photos actually! Perhaps that was due to the fact that I took a 4 hour nap when I came home from school today though :P Tomorrow is our school's spirit rally and the senior color is black so I'm rather excited to go to school decked out in all black and see other people embracing that color to the fullest extent as well!

MARBLED

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Gold Collar Necklace c/o Oasap, Marbled Maxi Dress c/o Sugarlips, Forever 21 Cutout Cuff, White Mountain Booties

Marble print is quite underrated in my opinion! I only have one marbled bodycon dress from H&M so I was glad to see that Sugarlips had a marbled maxi dress! <3 This dress also comes with a slit, which helps make it even more romantic and elegant; yet the print is appropriate for both day and night. I feel like this look is very tropical and "vacation ready," two things that I wish could become reality right now.

I don't like the colder seasons that much because my muscles tense up easily which makes it harder for me to focus and do work because I'm so uncomfortable :( Most people prefer the fall and winter, but I find it frustrating when I have to pile on the sweaters and coats when I just want to wear a dress for example, on it's own. Plus, the sun sets so quickly in the winter! ;-;

GOLD RUSH

Forever 21 Fedora, Gold Scissors Necklace c/o Forward To All, Sequin Babydoll Top c/o Sugarlips, Gold Bones Bracelet c/o Forward To All, H&M Black Jeans, White Mountain Booties

For the longest time, I admit that I thought sequins were too tacky for day to day wear, but that was because I had no idea how to style them and probably because the only sequined pieces I were seeing in stores were in the cheapest looking colors xD But what I love about this sequin top from Sugarlips is the timelessness of the overall gold tone, but also the mixture of gold, pink, light blue, red, and silver sequins to create this unique color. This top looks even better when the sunlight is shining on it because the reflection is multi-colored!

I am also OBSESSED with this scissors necklace from Forward To All! The scissors immediately reminded me of sewing scissors and if you guys don't know, it has been my goal for years now to pursue fashion design as a career. I think the best charm necklaces are the ones that symbolize something very important to the wearer. I will be wearing this one a lot from now on :) The bones bracelet is from Forward To All as well, and I usually like my creepy jewelry pieces to be more haunting, but there's something quirkier about this bracelet and it works!

Wide Brim Hat c/o Oasap, Cross Chain Ear Cuff c/o Romwe, Forever 21 Top, Leopard Print Trousers c/o Sugarlips, White Mountain Booties

I really like the combination of this top with these trousers! This top was another item I purchased at the Forever 21 additional 50% off sale special, for $4! These leopard print trousers are from Sugarlips and I love the relaxed fit; they have the comfort of pajama pants yet they still look quite pulled together. By the way, this is one of the 5 Sugarlips Style Icon looks I will be posting this week :) There will also be another giveaway this week as well!

Tonight, the Iron Man 3 trailer comes out at midnight; I can't stay up that late or else I'll be a zombie at school again but you can bet I'll be watching it as soon as I wake up tomorrow! Halloween is coming up so quickly too; I hope I can make my Azula costume in time! I bought my fabric yesterday and the cost of all materials came out to less than $20. It would be really cool if someone dressed up as Zuko too. If not, I suppose my sheepdog, Charlie, who happens to have a giant black spot over his eye could pass as him.

MRS. LOVETT

Forever 21 Mini Hat, Chiffon & Lace Top c/o Forward To All, Forever 21 Belt, Black Skater Skirt c/o Romwe, White Mountain Booties

At first, when I received this top as a surprise from Forward To All, I wasn't quite sure how to style it with some type of film/literature character inspiration. But after watching Sweeney Todd that week, I immediately felt the connection between this top and Mrs. Lovett's Victorian fashion. This double buckle belt was the perfect addition to create a corseted look at the waist, and to keep the look more modern, I went for a short, skater skirt! I wore this outfit today to my friend's birthday/costume party :) Some people commented that it also reminded them of Irene Adler and that works too I guess! :P

For my hair, my sister was kind enough to help me out with this lovely hairstyle! We sectioned off the front sides of my hair on both sides and put the rest in a ponytail. (While doing so, we realized that I wast starting to look like Azula from Avatar so that's who I'm going to be for Halloween now!!) We then curled all my hair in small sections. Next, we put the curled ponytail in a bun (curls help the hair pins hold better), and pinned the front strands to the sides of my head. We left the two strands closest to my face unpinned, to frame my face. For makeup, I went with a smokey eye and burgundy lips. What do you guys think?

GARDEN PARTY

DIY Flower Headdress (Tutorial), Chunky Batwing Cardigan c/o Romwe, Forever 21 Maxi Dress

I love chunky cardigans that feel like heavy blankets :) I much prefer wearing a thick oversized sweater or cardigan in the fall and winter, verses a structured coat. I really don't like the feeling when you can't move your arms around as freely because of jacket sleeves. Chunky cardigans and sweaters also feel more laid back and look cozier! This one is from Romwe and I'm quite pleased with the quality; I've been noticing that sweaters being sold at cheaper retail stores in the mall have only been getting thinner and thinner, but this one is rather thick so it's worth the money! If you plan on using chunky knitwear as outerwear, then it's definitely worth paying a little extra money to buy something of better quality so it doesn't fall apart.

This maxi dress is one of the pieces I got from Forever 21's additional 50% off sale special last weekend! It was only $3.50 :D I thought the colors of my flower headdress would complement the terracotta tone of the dress to create an Earth fairy inspired look! Speaking of which, I'm dying for season 2 of the Legend of Korra to come out! I'm going to have to add an air, water, earth, and fire-bender inspired look to the list of outfits I'd like to create in the future!

Spiked Headband c/o Romwe, Faux Leather Vest c/o Vivilli, Lavender Chiffon Gown c/o Romwe

Going an entire week without any sun made me realize how much easier it is to take outfit photos during the warmer months ;-; I have so many new outfits I've put together than I need to photograph to show you all! Today, I am wearing this lavender gown from Romwe which I styled in a punky-er direction with this motorcycle vest from Vivilli and spiked headband, also from Romwe! The difference between my Romwe and Oasap spiked headbands is the Romwe spikes are 3 times bigger and have a sharper (verses a rounder) point than the Oasap spikes; I guess it depends on which look your prefer!

It's harder to tell online but this gown is more voluminous (it is heavily gathered around the waist) than it appears, so it's better suited for formal occasions than something you might wear day to day to school for example. Nonetheless, it'd make a great gown for prom, and for less than $60, it's a steal :) Plus, I haven't seen many lavender colored prom dresses so that's also a plus if you're looking for a color that will stand out amongst the more common reds, navy blues, blacks, whites etc.

BEAUTY & THE BEAST

Vintage Crown Headband, Nude Off-the-Shoulder Dress c/o Oasap, Forever 21 Cut Out Cuffs, Colin Stuart Wedges

I love the luxuriousness and effortless vibe that off the shoulder pieces emit and have been on the hunt for them this season! I found this nude dress from Oasap and once I tried it on with my crown headband, I knew this look was going to go in the direction of a storybook! With the overall nude/pale yellow color palette, not to mention my dark brown hair, I think this look best resembles a modern take on Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Her gown even has an off-the-shoulder top too!

I suppose if I can't figure out what else to be for Halloween, I can just be Belle :) I just know I want to think of something really fun for the occasion, but the irony is that I normally dress by modeling myself after a film or literature character--so in essence, I like to dress as if every day is a street-style version of Halloween. So I have to make sure that what I pick for Halloween is something that I really would not be able to wear on a day to day basis. For example, last year, I was Iron Man, and I definitely could not go around everyday at school with the mask, toy arc reactor, and toy arm repulsor! :P I guess I could be Loki this year but I'm still thinking it over!
