FISHERMAN'S WHARF

Varsity Cardigan from Forever 21, Navy Blue Lace Bralette from Gilly Hicks (Similar),
Destroyed Boyfriend Jeans from Denim & Supply (Similar), White Sneakers from H&M (Similar)

One of the first things I did on break with my friends once we were all back from college was taking a road trip to San Francisco! We decided to go to Fisherman's Wharf to have seafood for lunch and to see the sea lions! Before we headed home, we also stopped by SF State to visit our friend, Karla, who showed us around her apartment styled dorm. I'm extremely jealous of the dishwasher, oven, and two bathrooms that they have in the suite!

The bralette I'm wearing today is from Gilly Hicks which I got on sale for $5! I loved it so much I bought it in three colors: navy blue, red, and white. The varsity cardigan is from Forever 21 and is so easy to throw on because it matches perfectly with any of my bralettes :) The boyfriend jeans are from my favorite brand at the moment, Denim & Supply by Ralph Lauren. I love how the shredded detailing and bleached effect make this pair really unique and much edgier than your typical pair of jeans!

Lastly, I hope you all have a merry Christmas Eve and if you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope you get to spend time with your loved ones!

WESTIN ST. FRANCIS

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

This past weekend, I got to attend the Men's Wearhouse holiday party at the Westin St. Francis hotel in San Francisco as my boyfriend's guest! I always get really excited whenever I get the chance to dress up and go to a formal event and I'm especially thankful to Lulu*s for sending me these beautiful pieces to wear. I felt like a princess wearing this elegant gown!

It's so great to be back home in California and surrounded by my family, friends, and the abundant sunshine again :) The past few weeks in New York as I wrapped up my first semester at Parsons were very busy which is why I took a break from blogging to focus only on school. Now that I'm home again, I'm going to make my blog a priority again. My style has definitely changed since I've been in New York and have had to start dressing differently to suit the weather and maintain a certain degree of comfort due to all the walking around I do in the city, so you'll be seeing a new aesthetic in my outfit posts from here on!

Hope you guys will enjoy the new blog design as well and happy holidays! :)

Gold Leaf Crown from Icing's, White Bustier from Forever 21, Arm Cuff c/o 2020AVE, Printed Blouse c/o Chaser, White Chiffon Skirt c/o Oasap, Venus Tights c/o bebaroque, Nude Ankle Strap Pumps from Nine West

Photos by Micaiah Carter

This was the second look shot at Central Park with Micaiah! These photos were taken a few weeks back (it's definitely too cold in New York during this time of year to wear an outfit like this out!). I find myself having to bundle up in all black everyday because I didn't really bring enough "winter" clothing from home. Although, most of the clothes I wear in the winter back in California still aren't warm enough for a New York winter. I'm excited to get to visit home this week though and be in warmer climates (as well as having In-N-Out animal fries again)!

My favorite part about this look is how well the illustrations on these tattoo tights go with the print of this blouse tied around my waist from Chaser. I wore a white top and skirt to compliment the prints with something more simple, and wore my leaf crown, which is my favorite headpiece of the moment! I really can't wait to go home so I can head back to Haight-Ashbury and go thrifting for more interesting headpieces. Most of the vintage shops I've been to here in the city are on the pricier side but maybe I just need to do some more exploring!

Gold Leaf Crown from Icing's, Fluffy Sweater c/o Awwdore, Pleated Dress (In Green) c/o Chicwish, Nude Ankle Strap Pumps from Nine West

Photos by Micaiah Carter

This was my first time visiting Central Park and I have to say that it is my favorite place so far in the city! These lovely photos were taken by my friend and photographer, Miciaih, who I met in my studio and seminar class at Parsons :) What he told me about not being as homesick after visiting Central Park was completely true. (Although both of us, being from California, are still suffering from In N Out withdrawal!) It's so easy to sit in your room and waste away 2 or 3 hours without realizing the time has passed by, but I found that at Central Park just an hour of walking around was enough to leave you completely refreshed and de-stressed.

I love the intricate pleats of this dress from Chicwish and the ruffled hem which makes the dress look like a flower! I paired it with my fluffy sweater from Awwdore which I've worn like a fur shawl. My leaf crown was the finishing touch to make this look more romantic and princess-like. On a concluding note, if any of you subscribe to Seventeen Magazine, you just might spot a familiar face in the November issue! ;) The issue will be available on newsstands on October 22nd, so once I have my hands on an issue in print, I'll be sure to post photos!

ANASTASIYA

Black Draped Top from Forever 21, Black Bandage Skirt from H&M, Black Anastasiya Tight c/o bebaroque, Lace Up Booties from White Mountain

Photos by Zhi Wei

You can always count on bebaroque when you're looking for truly unique and high quality legwear! In the past, I've styled a pair of crystal and pearl embellished nude tights from bebaroque in this look and I'm excited to add this beaded, black pair to my collection! The tights are made out of a thick and very soft material––they almost feel like fleece; so they are especially great for the winter time.

I wanted the tights to be the focal point of this outfit so I chose an all black color palette so that the eye would travel to the beautiful detailing in the tights. This black, draped top is a favorite of mine because it's just as comfortable as a basic, loose t-shirt but it looks much more romantic. My friend, Audrey, actually got this top for me as a gift! It can be hard to purchase clothing as gifts for people, especially when you know they have a very specific taste in clothing, so I applaud her for knowing what I like so well! :)

ST. MARKS

White Hair Bow from Icing's, Black Bustier from Forever 21, White Chiffon Skirt c/o Oasap, Fishnet Tights c/o HUE, Lace Up Booties from White Mountain

Photos by Zhi Wei

I'm really excited to share these photos for my collaboration with Lookbook x HUE! In this look, I'm styling a pair of HUE fishnet tights. The texture of fishnets makes them really fun to layer with other fabrics such as chiffon or lace! I wanted to make this look edgy and romantic so to contrast with the edginess of the tights, I wore more romantic pieces such as this bustier, chiffon skirt, and my lacey socks.

I wore this outfit this weekend when Zhi and I headed over to St. Marks for brunch at Cafe Mogador so we could finally have the eggs benedict we have been craving for weeks! Afterwards, we went to Macaron Parlour where I had macarons for the first time and now I finally understand why people are so obsessed with them! :)

Thin White Sweater from H&M, Lavender Bralette c/o Gentle Fawn, Pastel Ombre Skirt from Forever 21, Rosette Bracelet from Etsy, Light Blue Frilly Socks c/o Oasap, White Sneakers from H&M

Photos by Zhi Wei

This is one of my favorite shoots I've done with Zhi up to date! I love how the glow from the setting sun illuminates the first three shots so magically and romantically. If you ever have a cute bralette that you want to wear out, you can always try wearing it like a swimsuit top to the beach! Although you wouldn't be able to go in the water, it's a comfortable outfit for just lounging around on the sand.

I can't believe it's already October though! There are lots of exciting things happening later this month which I'll be able to update you about when the time comes :) We are also approaching midterms at Parsons soon and it's crazy to think that we are already into our 6th week of the semester! And of course there is also Halloween to look forward to, but I'm still not sure who I want to be for Halloween yet. I do really wish I had my sewing machine and all my sewing supplies with me here though so it'd be easier for me to make my own costume!

The weather and sunshine especially were beautiful last weekend at Coney Island! Although it was too cold to go in the water, it was fun getting to wear my swimsuit from Triangl! The entire thing is made out of neoprene so it's rather durable and doesn't wrinkle either. The cut of the swimsuit is also very flattering and there are so many colors to choose from! It even came with a neoprene drawstring bag for you to store your swimsuit in :)

Earlier today I got to model for my friend and fellow classmate, DJ, in a conceptual photo shoot based on the topic of "Time" for one of his classes! The photos show a lot of emotion and more dynamic poses so I'm excited to show them to you soon! Aside from that, I'm currently working on constructing an icosahedron (which is a 20 sided polyhedron with triangular faces) for my 3D class out of PVC vinyl. My fingers are in slightly in pain as I type this but my 3D class is one of my favorite and most rewarding classes this semester!

CINDERELLA INSPIRED

Chiffon Hair Bow from Icing's, White Eyelet Bustier from Forever 21, Light Blue Maxi Skirt c/o Chicwish, Nude Ankle Strap Pumps from Nine West

Photos by Zhi Wei

When I first saw this skirt from in this beautiful shade of blue, I immediately knew I wanted to do a Cinderella inspired look with it! For this fairytale inspired look, Zhi and I decided to shoot on the steps at the New York Public Library to recreate the scene when Cinderella was leaving the ball. I only wish I had some glass slippers to complete this look (although some cute lucite heels would be an interesting, modern take on the slippers)! I also wouldn't mind an impromptu trip to Disneyland either!

I had a lot of fun this weekend shooting new outfit posts around Brooklyn and again in Coney Island for the Singaporean brand, Stolen. Zhi has done photography work for Stolen before which is how I had the opportunity to model for the brand. It was also a pleasure to meet the designer, Elyn Wong! I can't forget to mention how happy and excited I was to see someone dressed up in an Iron Man suit while we were at Coney Island either!
