Wide Brim Hat c/o Oasap, Vintage Floral Top c/o Shoppalu, Corset Shorts c/o Lulu*s, Nude Ankle Strap Pumps from Nine West

Hey guys! Just wanted to update you all and let you know that the checkout page at Dahlia Wolf has been fixed so anyone experiencing trouble ordering the Art In Our Blood dress will be able to smoothly do so here now! In addition, due to production costs and manufacturing time, the pink lace detailing is now burgundy. If you're still interested in ordering a dress, the pre-order price of $64 (reduced from $69) will end on July 31st, so you have 3 more days to place an order at the 50% off price. :)

Today's look ended up having so many autumn vibes! I'm wearing a vintage floral top from Shoppalu which I've styled with my corset shorts from Lulu*s! I love the draped neckline of this top and the way it compliments the high cut of these shorts. To complete the look, I wore my wide brim hat––a simple, yet statement-making piece.

I've been working on a lot of bigger collaborations for my blog which I can't show you just yet, which is why I haven't been updating as much. Although school will take up my time again once it starts at the end of August, I'm going to be switching my focus to posting less frequently, but spending a lot more time and putting much more thought into each post. I cannot wait to collaborate with the student photographers at Parsons and I hope we can produce lots of beautiful shoots with more thematic styling and artistically composed photographs!

DIY Floral Crown (Tutorial), Tropical White Kimono c/o Lovers + Friends, Crochet Dress c/o Awwdore, Rope Belt (From a fabric store), Double Knuckle Rings c/o Galisfly, Nude Ankle Strap Pumps from Nine West

This is the first flower crown I ever made, and it essentially kicked off my flower crown obsession! Making flower crowns is one of my favorite things to do in my spare time. I'm hoping to make some more during the next few days that I won't be able to take outfit photos since I won't be able to wear contacts because I currently have a corneal abrasion (a scratch in my cornea) from taking a nap in contacts yesterday :( For all you contact lens wearers out there, I hope you won't make the same mistake I did, because the type of pain I experienced in my eye was absolutely horrible. It's a lot better now than it was yesterday, but it's nothing you want to experience for yourself!

In today's look, I coordinated my flower crown with this colorful, floral kimono from Lovers + Friends, and this crochet dress from Awwdore! The dress is a little on the short side so if you're tall, then you should keep in mind that it will be better worn as a tunic top. Underneath the dress, I just wore a nude tank top and light brown bandage skirt, in case anyone is wondering what you would wear under it! Lastly, I'm wearing an adorable set of knuckle rings from Galisfly. These ones are adjustable, which is important for me because I have a lot of trouble finding rings that won't slip off of my "piano fingers." One fun fact you might not know about me is that I took piano lessons for 10 years but eventually stopped because I wanted to focus on school work. And yes, Harvest Moon is my favorite video game as well! Anyways, I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

Black Chiffon Top c/o The Editor's Market, Double Buckle Belt from Forever 21, Black Skater Skirt c/o Romwe, Gold Snake Cuff c/o Romwe, Floral Painting Wallet c/o Chicwish, Lace Up Booties from White Mountain

Today I went for an elegant yet edgy look which I complimented with subtle gold and floral accents! I love this halter top from The Editor's Market because of the unique way it drapes down on the left and right sides. A skater skirt helped complete the flared silhouette, while the double buckle belt cinched this ensemble in at the waist to give definition. I wore my gold snake cuff to match the gold buckles in my belt and added my new floral wallet from Chicwish to bring a subtle touch of color. I'm really happy with this wallet because it has compartments for your cash, cards, a clear panel for your ID, as well as a coin pouch!

In one month from today, I'll be moving to New York! I'm even more excited than before because there are so many people I've met from the Parsons Facebook group that I can't wait to meet and collaborate with on future projects! I'm particularly excited about collaborating on outfit photo shoots with some very talented student photographers, one of which I'll be interviewing on my blog soon!

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday and don't forget to enter the Awwdore giveaway here! <3

GREAT BARRIER REEF

Bow Hair Tie c/o Siren London, White Tube Top from American Eagle, Mint Blouse c/o Siren London, White Skinny Belt from Forever 21, Mint Denim Shorts c/o Awwdore, Turquoise Gladiator Sandals c/o 2020AVE

This is an outfit that I would love to wear if I went on vacation to somewhere tropical. Not that I'm actually going anywhere this summer... but I am definitely enjoying spending lots of time with my friends before we all go off to college this fall! I decided to mix it up a bit and wear my hair in a long braid, especially since I had recently acquired this gold, bow hair tie from Siren London! These mint shorts from Awwdore are a great summer staple and they matched perfectly with this mint blouse from Siren London which I've tied around my waist. To complete the look, I wore my new sandals from 2020AVE. I've never seen gladiator sandals in this color and I love the aquatic feel this particular shade gives off.

Awwdore is also giving away a $50 giftcard to one of my readers! This giveaway is open internationally and will run for 10 days. To enter, follow the directions below. Just make sure you comment with the email address you used to register for the account, if it's different from your normal email address! Good luck! :)

THE ART IN OUR BLOOD DRESS

Friday, July 05, 2013

(Based off of my original design here)

Of all the opportunities that have come from starting my blog, being able to have one of my own designs produced and sold is the most amazing thing that has happened thus far and I am so grateful for it! I have been waiting for so long to show you guys the final result of my collaboration with Dahlia Wolf and now that the day has come, it feels rather surreal. Dahlia Wolf is Sugarlips' new brand where users can post fashion images that inspire them and the community can then vote on their favorites; from there, the images with the most votes end up being used as inspiration for the next Dahlia Wolf garments. When Dahlia Wolf approached me for this blogger collaboration, I actually asked if I could submit an image of my own design instead. I chose a photo of the brown lace gown I made in my junior year for the school fashion show, and thus, the "Art In Our Blood" dress was born in this beautiful, burgundy color.

Right now, you can pre-order the "Art In Our Blood" dress for $64, which is 50% off of the regular price of $128. After July 31st, the price will go back to $128. I do get a commission on each dress that is sold, so I hope that you guys will consider buying one for yourself and supporting my college fund! :) The only thing I want to point out so that none of my readers are mislead is that the original brown dress was actually two pieces (a short dress with a mesh maxi skirt over it), whereas this version is one, single piece. However, I do think that it looks a lot neater this way. Other than that, I'm very pleased with how closely this version resembles the original (especially the applique detailing!). The added ruching in the back also allows for an adjustable fit in the top area. If you guys have any specific questions about the dress at all, feel free to email me or ask me in the comments and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thank you to Sugarlips and Dahlia Wolf for helping me with my pursuits as a designer and thank you to all my readers for your undying support as well! I truly can't thank you enough for helping me get where I am today.

BEACH STYLE WITH LULU*S
White Retro Sunglasses c/o Lulu*s, Gold Anchor Necklace c/o Lulu*s, Floral Lavender One-Piece Swimsuit c/o Lulu*s, Mint Jeggings c/o Lulu*s, Mint Pointed Pumps c/o Lulu*s (Similar)

For this look, which I wore to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk this weekend, I collaborated with Lulu*s to style an outfit, from head to toe, that you can wear both around town and then to the beach! Especially if you intend to grab lunch at a nearby restaurant or do some shopping at a beach town, outfits like these allow you to look classy and put together the entire day without sacrificing comfort or convenience.

Whether you go swimming a lot or not, one piece swimsuits or bodysuits in general, are great pieces to incorporate into your wardrobe because you can always wear them as tops instead! A lot of bustiers can be uncomfortable because of the boning, and they can also shift around in the back during the day; however, wearing a strapless one piece swimsuit as a bustier top can eliminate those problems. I styled this floral swimsuit with a pair of mint jeggings and mint pumps. Once I got to the beach, I just took the heels off and went barefoot, so if you don't like going barefoot, make sure to remember to pack sandals in your bag! To protect my eyes, I wore a pair of white sunglasses, and I kept my jewelry minimal with this mini anchor necklace.

Hope you guys like the change of scenery in these photos and that you have a great start to your week! :)
